[edit] Information

Explorer Bruce Parry spends time living with different tribes around the world.

[edit] Nyangatom

The Nyangatom are some of the most feared warriors in the Omo Valley, locked in bloody feuds with the tribes that surround them. After the team left the Nyangatom village, Locho, one of the young men, lost his life in a tribal raid. Such raids have always been a part of life here.

[edit] Hamar

The Hamar live among the bush covered hills on the eastern side of the Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia. They are a tribe with unique rituals such as a cattle-leaping ceremony that men go through in order to reach adulthood, whereupon young Hamar women get whipped to prove their love for their kinsmen.

[edit] Dassanech

The lands of the Dassanech have seen severe and sustained droughts for many years. In August 2006, in the harshest of ironies, their lands were struck by severe flooding. The Dassanech are a people living on the margins, having to constantly adapt to their changing environment.
